Alison spends her days writing and dreaming of adventures, and her weekends living them. Both are helped by copious amounts of Yorkshire Tea.
Growing up, she spent most of her spare time orienteering, hiking, climbing trees and figuring out how to get down from said trees. These days, she climbs more rock faces than trees but still loves exploring wild places with minimal gear. Wild camping highlights include the high plains of Ladakh (Indian Himalaya), glacier camping on Greenland and forays into the Scottish mountains.
As a former disaster planner and USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) specialist, Alison is used to thinking about “what if…?” situations. A genetic tendency for hoarding makes her a natural prepper – if only she had more storage space…
She believes that the more you know, the better armed you are to deal with whatever life throws at you, and that tea and cake can improve almost any situation.
